Catherine Ford, born in Bloomsbury (London) She was raised by her mother, grandmother, and her godparents. Her father left her family. When she was a little girl, she struggled with an obsessive compulsive disorder. She also experienced anxiety because of the word"association. Ford began to be interested in acting as a teenager, and she joined the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she wasn't a good fit there. Ford instead applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama and was able to secure a place on her fourth application. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character in Doctor Who. Ford didn't finish her studies in 1993. But, by 1991, Ford had made her first appearance on TV in an episode of Surgical Spirit. At that time, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate was seen in television programs such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London's Burning in the Nineties. Alongside her usual performances in the theatre, Tate also joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. But Tate soon began to garner notice for her stand-up comedy that she incorporated into her repertoire in 1996.
